Early pliages

The original pliages consist of a long rectangular strip of fabric folded twice to make a z-shaped form. This results in three surfaces, which are painted in monochrome colour using horizontal or vertical brush strokes. The pliages are hung in such a way that the folds are vertical or horizontal, thus establishing a relationship between the work and the surrounding space. Subsequently, this early phase also includes pliages that are painted with gestural brush strokes.
